Child raising

Raising up kids in today's time, is anyways a challenging task and what can makes things worse is if you have to handle a stubborn child. Parents require lots of patience and tricks while dealing with their stubborn child. Being stubborn in children is a common trait during the age of toddler or teenage. They want to be involved in the decision making task of household things or at least things that concern them. Dealing with the stubborn child is a sensitive task, as you have to hold your ground without making them feel hurt or disappointed. Parent need to understand that even children also goes through stressful situation but they do not know the accepted way to deal with them. Here are a few suggestions for the

Parents which can be followed to discipline the stubborn child:

1. Do not argue with the stubborn kid:
When your child is angry or behaving stubborn then it is not the right time to argue. It can make the situation worse. It is better to communicate with children when they are quite and are ready to listen you. Observe them and try to find out the element that makes them uncomfortable and removing the child from the situation will help them calming down. Patience and dedication are the only keys to control the situation.
2. Communicate with your child:
Listen to your child what they are trying to convey as it may resolve most of your problem. Getting into friendly communication with children when they are angry or tensed will help to ease the situation. Talking to them may divert their attention and make them forget the tension. When parents do not listen to children, they may feel like abandoned, unwanted or unloved.
3. Being a role model:
If children see their parents fighting on small issues and behaving angrily then they also start thinking that anger is the best way of communicating frustrations. Parents are the first teachers of kids and they pick up a lot of things from their parents. Parents should try to lead by example if they want their kids to be well behaved. Teach them by showing it to them. You can't just behave the ways you want and expect your kids to be good and well mannered.
4. Create peaceful environment at home:
Home should be a place of happiness and peace for children. Parents need to give attention and some times priority to children when deciding anything related to home. Many parents make the mistake of avoiding kids and pay more attention to the guests and household chores. It is essential for the parents to talk to kids even when they are busy in their work. Disciplining the children is important but it should be done in an affectionate way. Tell them the importance of certain rules and certain lifestyle will make children more adorable.
5. Provide options out of stubborn behavior:
If your child refuses to anything then it is better to give some options to choose. In spite of giving them orders like go to bed its sleeping time or finish your food, it is better to give option like would you like to hear a story first or sing a song before sleeping? Would you like to take fruit or milkshake first before the meal? Giving them options will make them feel that even in their opinion matters. In addition, the kids will get a sense of independence that they are making their
own decision even if its from amongst the choices that you are offering.
6. Teach your kids about sharing:
It's a common trait in children that they do not share their favorite things with anyone. But as parents you need to teach them about sharing things. For example, if your child refuses to share his/her toys with other kids then tell them if they don't share the other kids will not share their toys with him/her. And, if he/ she shares then all of them will get a chance to play with all the toys. Sharing also discourage the idea of sole ownership in kids.
7. Encourage positive behavior:
Praise your child whenever he/ she display positive behavior or do anything that wanted him or her to do. Encouraging the positive behavior will make the kid understand that it is good way to get attention or praises. You can also give them rewards in return like extra time to play or fulfill one of their demands.
